Historic building restoration

One of the key areas in which behind architecture is active is the restoration of historic monuments. Here, it is truly essential that everything lies “behind” the architecture — a concept that defined the company’s own name. In fact, undertaking any project on buildings that contain such significant historical, architectural, and decorative elements requires extensive technical and engineering expertise; however, this expertise must be completely subordinate to the overriding goal of conservation. To achieve these results, extensive interdisciplinary coordination is essential, one able to seamlessly integrate structural analysis, seismic safety, building systems (mechanical, electrical, and specialized), fire prevention, and so on.

These are projects of great professional interest, managed with great passion, starting with the essential survey (to be carried out in such a way that it can be integrated in phases into a single HBiM process), through to the level of detail required for the construction site and to guide the subsequent maintenance of the structure—a concept that, in building complexes of such scale and technical complexity, can only be considered as an ongoing process.

Each of these projects required the production of hundreds of design documents. Although it is therefore difficult to summarize them, some of the most significant projects are described and documented in greater detail in the following pages. We would like to clarify that projects carried out on behalf of private clients, are published only if express authorization has been obtained.
